Written by AFA National Convention

John Hasson (left), and Paul Neslusan (right),
address the delegation.

John Hasson (New England Region AFA President) and Paul Neslusan (Massachusetts State AFA President) addressed key concerns about Air Force programs outside of the realm of aviation.

Mr. Hasson addressed a critical concern with gaining systems at the speed of need, and the criticality of getting inside the opposition's "decision making loop".  Mr. Neslusan weighed in on both the importance of looking hard at processes for effiiciencies in both acquisitions and cyber initiatives.

Why Worry About Conventional Capability? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Paul Neslusan

F-22s are expensive; so are F-35s.  Why bother spending so much money on planes?

We can easily save money by using old fighter technology...

...Except when foreign capabilities rival ours, such as:
The Su-27, operated by Algeria, Belarus, China, Eritrea, Ethiopia,

India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Russia, Ukraine,

Uzbekistan, Venezuela, and Vietnam.

MiG-29 operated by Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus,

Bulgaria, Cuba, Eritrea, Hungary, India, Iran, Kazakhstan,

Malaysia, Myanmar, North Korea, Peru, Poland, Russia, Serbia,

Slovakia, Sudan, Syria, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and

Yemen.

5th-generation fighters are currently being developed by Russia

and China to challenge the F-22 and F-35:  and they will then

likely be sold to the countries operating the Su-27 and Mig-29.

S-300 Anti-Aircraft Missiles being deployed around the world.

A Chinese Anti-Aircraft Carrier missile is under development.

...But who needs conventional capability?

Many members--not to mention the general public--may be unaware of the top issues being spearheaded by the AFA in 2010.  Please see the attached, or the text after 'read more' to peruse more detail about what the Air Force Association considers to be its top issues for 2010, to include the Nuclear Enterprise, Securing Space and Cyberspace, Developing People, and Investing in Airpower.

Though there may be some people surprised at "Investing in Airpower" at the bottom of the list, this simply demonstrates how much the Air Force Association does for its members and for the Air Force "behind the scenes."
